Textbook
Textbook is Textalk's software for reading digital newspapers and books.
TextBook is based on the simple fact that large amounts of text in daily newspapers, magazines and books are divided into smaller units such as paragraphs, chapters or sections (sport, travel, property etc). Our reading software keeps these divisions intact which allows the visually impaired reader to quickly and easily browse through text, without having to type in a single letter. To further increase user-friendliness Textbook uses an alpha numeric keyboard since many visually impaired readers have a difficult time finding letter keys on a normal keyboard.
Learn to navigate in a couple of minutes!
The reader uses very basic commands connected to the alpha numeric numeric keyboard and the arrow keys. Basic navigation can be learned in a couple of minutes.
Although the reader can get by using only a few keys, the program also allows the reader to create more advanced reading functions by programming the function keys (the F keys). This, in turn, means that the reader can perform complicated commands by pressing single buttons.
The latest version, TextBook 5.0, was released in the spring of 2003. TextBook supports the following operating systems: Windows 9x/Me/2000/XP. TextBook 5.0 communicates with speech synthesis software using the SAPI 4.0 standard.
